Midland BioProducts Corporation® (MBC) was established in 1987 as a primary manufacturer of bulk antisera and polyclonal antibodies for the turbidimetric (TIA) immunodiagnostic assay industry. To complement the bulk antisera and polyclonal antibody products, Midland BioProducts Corporation® produces calibrators and controls and does custom bulk antisera production and manufacture and custom immunodiagnostic assay development.
A recent expansion of the Midland BioProducts Corporation® product line has been in the area of animal healthcare products, including those of veterinary interest. MBC has licensed the Midland Quick Test Kit® trade name for our bovine diagnostics and equine diagnostics product lines. The core products of the Midland Quick Test Kit® line consists of our MBC QTII instrument and test kits used to monitor passive transfer failure in foals and dairy calves via a semi-quanitative immunodiagnostic assay of circulating levels of IgG in the dairy calf and the foal and in bovine and equine colostrum. Bulk antibody reagents and calibrators are available for application to other immunodiagnostic assay techniques for evaluating the dairy cow and horse immunoglobulins (TIA) and general chemistries.
Some side projects of interest utilizing our patented lateral flow technology include assays for a highly sensitive qualitative assay for determining the level of bovine contamination in swine blood protein used as a feed additive, a qualitative assay for monitoring the level of bovine contamination in goat, sheep, and water buffalo cheese. The utility of lateral flow devices makes them excellent choices for point of care or preventative medicine assays. Midland BioProducts Corporation®'s bulk antisera products include goat polyclonal antibodies to human CRP (C Reactive Protein), immunoglobulins IgA, IgG, IgM and IgE, complement factors C3 and C4, Transferrin, Albumin, Haptoglobin, and Apolipoprotein antisera to the Apo A1, Apo B and Apo E components. MBC manufactures bulk quantities of calibrators and controls to CRP, Normal Human Serum (NHS), and Apo A1/ Apo B.
